In the digital world nowadays, security for messaging accounts is indispensable in order to avoid compromising privacy and personal data. WhatsApp does offer a very handy two-step verification feature for added security of your account. Once this facility is turned on, nobody can access your account since only you will be able to confirm your identity. Here's how you do it to enable two-step verification for your WhatsApp account.
What is Two-Step Verification?
Two-step verification requires an extra code to be asked for, apart from your ordinary verification code, as asked each time you enter your WhatsApp account. This code is usually a PIN that one sets up themselves. This serves as another obstruction against people who try to access your account without your permission.
How to Turn On Two-Step Verification on WhatsApp
Open WhatsApp and Go to Settings
Open the WhatsApp application from your mobile phone. On Bolivia WhatsApp Number List Android, tap the three dots at the top right and select Settings. While on iPhone, it would be tapping on Settings at the bottom-right corner.
Account Settings
In this menu, tap on Account to open the security settings.
Two-Step Verification
Under Account settings, tap Two-step verification. From here, you will be able to create a PIN.
Create Your PIN
Create a 6-digit PIN that you will use later to confirm your identity. Choose something you will remember but that would not be readily guessed by others. You will need to confirm the PIN by re-typing it.
Add an Email Address (Optional but Recommended)
You will be prompted to enter an email address for recovery purposes. This email address will be utilized in case you happen to forget your PIN. In fact, it is highly recommended that you enter the email because should something go wrong, at least this can be helpful.
Confirm and Enable
WhatsApp will then confirm, after the PIN and email, that two-step verification has been enabled. Moving forward, whenever you register your phone number with WhatsApp on a new device, you will be asked for your PIN.
What Happens Once Two-Step Verification is Turned On?
Once two-step verification is turned on, from time to time-after reinstalling WhatsApp or changing your phone number-you will also be asked to verify your 6-digit PIN when logging into WhatsApp. The additional security layer further prevents your account from being accessed by an unauthorized person.
